Chashme ki shop kaise khole: Glasses are not worn nowadays only to fulfill the need of weak eyesight, but they have also become a symbol of fashion, looks, trend, and status. Big brands are present in the market today with thousands of varieties of glasses. Due to brand, design, and technology, the price of glasses has risen from thousands to lakhs of rupees. This is the reason why the business of glasses has become a money-printing machine today. Even a normal shop earns lakhs of rupees per month. In such a situation, a lot of interest is being seen among the youth to open a glasses shop.
However, the biggest thing is what has to be done to open a glasses shop? Is any degree required for this, or any special type of license required? Can only eye doctors open a glasses shop, or can any person who has no connection with eye hospitals or doctors also open this shop? Let's know about it..
No license, just have to do this work.
Narendra Trikha, who owns the oldest and famous eyewear shop named Noida Optics in Atta Market, below Noida Sector 18 Metro Station, says that no license is required to open an eyewear shop, but it has to be registered like other shops. Apart from this, a GST number has to be taken, so that there is no evasion in paying tax and filing returns.
Trikha says that eyeglasses are made at eyeglass shops, so it is most important that there are enough machines to check vision. Also, there must be a degreed optometrist, so that he can find out the correct eye number after checking and write a prescription for glasses.
Why is it necessary to have an optometrist?
Dr. Rajiv Mukherjee, Senior Consultant and Eye Surgeon at Mukherjee Eye Clinic, Delhi, says that it is most important to have an optometrist at any eyeglass shop. One should not get glasses made where there is no optometrist. Dr. Rajeev says that an optometrist can completely understand the instructions given by eye specialists and make glasses on that basis. He can also detect weak eyesight or any disease in the eyes by examining the eyes with machines and can refer the patient to an eye specialist if needed. An optometrist provides primary care to the eyes; however, he cannot prescribe medicines. If an optometrist does this, then it is wrong. Giving medicines or doing surgery is the job of an ophthalmologist only.
What has to be done to become an optometrist?
Since it is necessary to have an optometrist at an eyewear shop, it is important to know what has to be done to become one. Dr. Rajeev says that for this, it is necessary to do a degree or diploma course in optometry. In India, a 4-year B.Sc. in Optometry degree course is taught. At the same time, some institutes also offer a 2-year diploma course in optometry. Optometrists can not only work in spectacle shops but can also do private practice apart from working in government or private hospitals or clinics. These people also do research.
