The benefit of discount on electricity bill: In collaboration with electricity distribution companies, the government is considering giving a discount on electricity bill to customers buying new AC.

According to the Bureau of Energy Efficiency, a 5-star rated AC in place of an old AC can save Rs 6300 in electricity bills on an annual basis. This will not only reduce the burden on people's pockets but can also reduce the pressure on the power grid.

This kind of scheme is already running for the people living in Delhi, BSES is running a scheme under which after giving the old 3-star rating AC, when people buy a new 5-star rated AC, they can avail up to 60 percent discount on the new AC. But the condition is that the AC should be in working condition and 3 units can be replaced per CA number.
