This year, there is confusion regarding Devuthani Ekadashi, the biggest festival in Hinduism after Diwali. Like Diwali, Devuthani Ekadashi will be celebrated over two days. According to legend, on this day, Lord Vishnu awakens from his four-month sleep and takes charge of the entire universe. In Hinduism, this date is considered the biggest festival of the gods. Let's find out when Devuthani Ekadashi will begin this year.
According to Pandit Manish Upadhyay, a ritual astrologer from the holy city of Karauli, Devuthani Ekadashi will begin on November 1st. This date will begin at 9:12 am on November 1st and will continue until 7:32 pm on November 2nd. He says that Devuthani Ekadashi will be celebrated on November 1st for the Smarta sect and on November 2nd for the Vaishnava sect.
Auspicious activities are prohibited during Chaturmas.
Upadhyay explains that on this day, Lord Narayana breaks his four-month sleep and assumes the responsibility of the entire universe. The period when Lord Narayana is asleep is called Chaturmas. He says that during Chaturmas, all auspicious activities are prohibited in Hinduism, and only after Devuthani Ekadashi, all auspicious activities begin. Upadhyay explains that this date holds great significance in Sanatan Dharma. It is a very sacred festival, especially for the gods. Therefore, Devuthani Ekadashi holds the same significance as Diwali in Hinduism. This is why it is called Dev Diwali.
Wear yellow clothes on Ekadashi.
According to Pandit Upadhyay, one should eat less on Dashami Tithi, the day before this date. If possible, one should consume only fruits and milk that night. This ensures good health on Ekadashi and makes the fast successful. On Devuthani Ekadashi, one should wake up early in the morning and bathe by mixing Ganga water in the bathwater. Only yellow clothes should be worn on this day, as Lord Narayana is very fond of yellow clothes. Tilak should be applied to twelve areas of the body. After this, worship Lord Vishnu. Reciting Gopal Sahasranama, Vishnu Sahasranama, and Lakshmi Stotra, as well as chanting as many kirtans as possible, is considered auspicious on this day.
