Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) captain Rishabh Pant once again failed to score runs with the bat. He could score only 18 runs for the team chasing a huge target of 237 runs against Punjab Kings. Azmatullah Omarzai took his wicket and the video of the way he got out went viral. When Pant hit the shot, his bat was seen flying in the air without wings.
The way Rishabh Pant got out was one of the strangest dismissals in the Indian Premier League 2025 so far. The Lucknow captain failed miserably in trying to hit the ball over the cover and could not connect the ball properly. His bat slipped out of his hand and fell far away waving in the air. The bat flew towards square-leg while the ball went straight to the fielder standing at sweeper cover. Shashank Singh took an easy catch while running and gave Punjab Kings their fourth success.
The Lucknow Super Giants players returned looking towards the sky and mumbling something. Former Australian captain Aaron Finch, who was commentating at the time, said, "This is one of the strangest dismissal incidents I have ever seen."
Rishabh Pant's performance with the bat in this IPL 2025 has been very poor. He has scored just 128 runs in 11 matches, his average is 12.80 and strike rate is 99.22. Pant, who was bought by LSG for Rs 27 crore in the mega auction, has proved to be one of the biggest disappointments of this season. He has scored just one half-century, but that too came in the defeat against Chennai Super Kings (CSK).

Lucknow Super Giants owner Sanjiv Goenka, who usually looks very aggressive, looked very calm in this match. The reaction he gave after Rishabh Pant's wicket fell is also going viral on social media.
