However, some reports claimed that India thwarted Pakistan's attempt to target Amritsar. As per Times Now, Pakistan fired two missiles towards Amritsar, and both were successfully intercepted by the air defence system and were destroyed.
Earlier on Thursday, the government debunked false claims by Pakistani social media handles about attack on the Amritsar Military base, inflicting heavy damage. Notably, an old video of a wildfire from 2024 is being shared by Pakistani handles as an attack on the Amritsar military base. The government advised citizens to avoid sharing unverified information.
The development came amid rising tensions between India and Pakistan. In the early hours of Wednesday, the Indian Armed Forces launched Operation Sindoor targeting nine terror camps in Pakistan and PoK to avenge the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack.
