Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): In the first month of April of the current financial year, West Central Railway (WCR) earned a total originating revenue of ₹739.84 crore, which is ₹686.54 crore originating revenue compared to the same period last year. This originating revenue shows an increase of about 8 percent.
AS per item wise income on originating revenue, the railway has received revenue of ₹208.48 crore from passenger traffic, ₹489.62 crore from goods traffic, ₹14.61 crore in other coaching item and ₹27.13 crore from miscellaneous income i.e. sundry.
General Manager Shobhana Bandopadhyay gives instructions from time to time in various meetings to increase the originating revenue of West Central Railway.
Various efforts are being made by WCR to increase railway revenue in passenger traffic:- Rail travel has been made safe and better for the passengers, Special trains are being operated, The operating period of special trains running from WCR is being extended, Additional coaches are being added to passenger trains to clear the waiting list.
Similarly, The duration of experimental halts available in West Central Railway is being increased keeping in mind the convenience of the passengers. By speeding up infrastructure works, the speed of passenger trains has been increased and special attention is being paid to punctuality.
Similarly, various efforts are being made by WCR to increase railway revenue in goods traffic like increasing the average speed of goods trains, the capacity of different rail sections has been increased and infrastructure has been enhanced. Round the clock loading and unloading services are being provided in goods warehouses, Continuous efforts are being made to increase Gatishakti cargo terminal/siding.
Speed is being provided in infrastructure works like new railway line / doubling / tripling. Operational improvements are also being made in goods trains. The working of goods terminal has been improved and detention of goods trains has been reduced.
