32 Airports Reopen After Temporary Closure Amid India-Pakistan Conflict

India has reopened 32 airports that were temporarily closed due to escalating tensions with Pakistan, the Airports Authority of India (AAI) confirmed on Thursday. The airspace restrictions, imposed last week, have been lifted following a ceasefire agreement between the two countries.

Key airports including Srinagar, Chandigarh, Amritsar, and Leh are now operational for civil flights. The full list also features military and civilian airstrips across Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, and Haryana, such as Jaisalmer, Bhuj, Ambala, Adhampur, Bathinda, Hindon, and Kullu Manali (Bhuntar).

The AAI statement read:

“It is informed that these Airports are now available for civil Aircraft operations with immediate effect.”

Major airlines including IndiGo and SpiceJet have resumed services and are coordinating closely with airport authorities to restore operations, including slot management, staff redeployment, and passenger handling.

The closure began last Friday, initially covering 24 airports, and expanded to 32 within 24 hours. A series of NOTAMs (Notices to Airmen) had been issued to formalize the shutdown.
