A House of Dynamite has become one of the most highly anticipated new films of the year following a breathtaking trailer released earlier this week.
Featuring a star-studded cast and helmed by one of the biggest directors in Hollywood, the pulse-racing political thriller is shaping up to be a major hit for Netflix.
Movie fans are already calling the trailer “the tensest thing they’ve ever seen”, so prepare for nearly two hours of non-stop suspense when it’s actually released.

But what exactly is the film about, who’s in the cast and when will we be able to watch it?

The new thriller directed by Oscar-winning filmmaker Kathryn Bigelow takes place in the modern day when White House staff discover an imminent attack on Chicago.
When a military communication point identifies an anonymous missile heading towards the major city, a mad scramble ensues to determine who fired it and how to stop it.
The trailer reveals the panic that ensues when the US military reaches DEFCON 2 and various officials scramble to make sense of the situation.
While the military is prepared to do anything to protect their country, others are left fearing the worst-case scenario.
The star-studded cast is led by Dune and Mission: Impossible star Rebecca Ferguson as Captain Olivia Walker, the comms officer who first spots the missile.
She’s joined by an incredible cast of Hollywood talent, including Luther’s Idris Elba as the President of the United States.
The Night Agent’s Gabriel Basso takes on another major role for Netflix as Deputy National Security Advisor Jake Baerington, while Foundation’s Jared Harris plays Secretary of Defense Reid Baker.
Playwright and actor Tracy Letts, who recently starred in Saturday Night, portrays General Anthony Brody, and Hamilton and Twisters’ Anthony Ramos is military base commander Major Daniel Gonzalez.

Obi-Wan Kenobi and The Queen’s Gambit star Moses Ingram is FEMA official Cathy Rogers and Jonah Hauer-King, Prince Eric in the recent remake of The Little Mermaid, plays Lieutenant Commander Robert Reeves.

A House of Dynamite’s release schedule is somewhat complicated but there is some good news for UK movie fans.
The film will first be released in select UK cinemas from Friday, 3rd October.
This is a whole week before the film’s theatrical release in the United States, which will happen the following Friday, 10th October.
For those who prefer to wait until it’s available on streaming, there’s also reason to celebrate.
Just a couple of weeks after its release in cinemas, A House of Dynamite will be streaming on Netflix from Friday, 24th October.
