Smiling thug poses in jail selfie DAYS after being locked up for brutal attack

Thug Sebastian Jones, 37, was sent to prison last week after he was seen on CCTV attacking a 41-year-old victim following a night out in Oldham, Greater . He shared two photos on his account on Sunday, April 20, with one showing him . A caption included in the snap said "laugh now cry later" with a lock and key emoji.

In a second photo, Jones was seen posing with two other prisoners in what appeared to be a communal area. A spokesperson for HMP Forest Bank, in Salford, told affiliate : "We do not comment on individuals.

"Safety and security are our top priority. We constantly review our activity to prevent the issue of illicit items such as mobile phones from entering the prison."

Greater Manchester Police said Jones carried out a violent attack against the victim at about 4am on Monday, July 15, 2024. Footage captured the moment Jones left a nightclub before he walked towards the victim and punched him.

The force from the punch knocked the victim to the ground before Jones continued his attack. Members of the public called police out to the scene who then found the victim on the floor with serious head injuries.

Emergency services administered first aid, before the victim left the scene and returned home. He later went to hospital in a critical condition later that day.

Police said officers searched a property on Dickens Street, in Moorside, where they had obtained a warrant but Jones had began "actively evading police." A manhunt was launched in a bid to find him and after seven days he was located in nearby Bury.

Jones was later charged with Section 18 assault and was remanded in custody. He denied the allegation but following a three-day trial in Manchester Crown Court in January, he was found guilty.

He was later sentenced to seven years in prison on Thursday, April 17. Following the hearing, Detective Superintendent Walker from Greater Manchester Police's Oldham district said: "The level of violence displayed by Jones was completely unacceptable and cowardly.

"The victim was defenceless on the ground, and Jones carried out a sustained attack, causing significant injuries which have left a lasting impact on the victim and his family. Greater Manchester Police will not tolerate any form of violence.

"After the savage assault, he actively evaded police and showed no remorse for his actions. He is now rightly facing the consequences of his behaviour."
