Zoe Ball has been left in pain after being diagnosed with a new health condition. The broadcasting legend shared the news with her listeners over the weekend, just weeks after she returned to the network.
shared an update on her overall health and revealed that she had been diagnosed with bursitis. The condition is when fluid-filled sacs (bursa), which cushion the joints, become painful and inflamed. The main bursae is located next to tendons close to large joints, including the shoulders, elbows, hips and knees.
Treatment can include painkillers, rest, ice packs, antibiotics if there is an infection or a steroid injection into the affected joint. The update comes after Zoe previously confirmed she had been battling temporomandibular joint (TMJ). Speaking on the show this weekend, Zoe said: "Yes, it's come to that. Fifty-four and I got bursitis."

But despite the pain, she is persevering and is continuing to work out with her personal coach, Seth, to improve her strength and agility. She added: "Thank you to Seth, I found out I've got a… What is it?
"A rating of… Was it a four or five on the fitness level? I was quite impressed with myself - out of, I think it's nine or ten. You've gotta start somewhere, haven't you? He's helping me with my bursitis."
Zoe has previously been open about her TMJ battle, which affects the joint between the jawbone and temporal bone. It can cause issues such as jaw, neck and shoulder pain, as well as problems with vision, dizziness and . The star recently underwent a lymphatic drainage massage in order to try and ease the pain from the condition.
She said on social media: "I have TMJ and wake most days with awful headaches from tension and jaw clenching. So grateful to Helen @thesculptresslondon for her magic.
"This is my face after I’ve seen her, check out my face before – yikes – picture 2. Can’t recommend her enough. She also has the greatest playlists."
Zoe returned to Radio 2 in May this year after initially taking time away from her broadcasting duties to "focus on her family," after initially stepping down in December. But she left fans overjoyed when she announced her return this year.
She said: "Hello it's me, oh it's lovely to be back on a Saturday. This is where it all began for me back when I used to sweep up and make the teas, I used to do early mornings, and then I did the slot where Rylan is."
Zoe had handed over the reins of her breakfast show to pal Scott Mills, before it was announced by the corporation she would instead present a show later in the day.
At the time, Head of Radio 2, Helen Thomas said: "Zoe is one of the UK's most loved presenters, so I'm thrilled to announce that she has a new home on Radio 2 on Saturday lunchtimes. Plus she'll be hosting various specials for us throughout the year."
