Kate Garraway interrupted on Friday as she shared some "major breaking news". As she presented the ITV show, alongside Adil Ray, the pair gave an update on one of their colleagues.
The host continued: "It's about someone in this very studio. On this day, back in 1975, a young arrived in the world." The screen then cut to a giggling Charlotte, as a picture of her as a child riding a horse appeared. Kate gushed: "You were so cute!"
Another image of her in school appeared, as they continued to show a slideshow of images showcasing Charlotte growing up. Baffled, she asked: "Where did you get these from?"
But Kate continued: "I want to look at these more, but we're moving on to the fact that 24 years later, she broke into the media industry." A clip of Charlotte presenting Meridian Tonight then flashed up. Adil burst out laughing as he exclaimed: "You look older there! You look 63!"
Kate went on to show another clip of her co-star, this time presenting on Sky's Sunrise - the job that she had before landing a role at Good Morning Britain in 2014. The presenter gushed: "She has dominated and we have adored having her."
The studio then erupted with ballons appearing on the screen behind the ITV hosts, as Happy Birthday To You blasted through the speakers. Adil announced: "A huge happy 50th birthday to our very own Dame Charlotte Hawkins."
They erupted into whoops and cheers as weather presenter Laura Tobin wheeled a tray of goodies, including a birthday cake out to them. She then presented her with a card and Adil produced a huge bouquet of flowers as Charlotte showed her gratitude by thanking them multiple times.
She went on to share a little anecdote about her daughter, saying: "Now I'm half a century, which my daughter keeps reminding me. She said to me last night 'how's it going to feel to be half a century old?', which sort of put it into perspective."
Recently, to focus on a fresh career away from the ITV show as she explained that she has been on a writing retreat in a huge career move.
Posting to , the popular TV host, who also hosts a podcast as well as a show on Classic FM radio, shared that she was planning for her "year of the book". Posing with a laptop on her knee, with snaps taken at the event held at Lainstone House Hotel, Charlotte explained that she was now doing something that she had wanted to do "for ages".
She explained: "Ever since I was a child obsessively reading and creating my own stories, it's long been a dream to write my own book. With 50 years on this earth fast approaching, it felt like the right time to try to make that childhood dream a reality - so I've been on a writing retreat organised by the brilliant @rosiejnixon.
