Bridget Phillipson, the Education Secretary, was rightly and sharply rebuked after she claimed that Britain had been a leading player behind the scenes in negotiating the peace deal between Israel and Hamas. She told Sky News on Sunday: "We have played a key role behind the scenes in shaping this." Mike Huckabee, the US ambassador to Israel, has painted a somewhat different picture accusing the Labour cabinet minister of being "delusional" in her remarks. Mr Huckabee stated quite clearly that Britain played little part, writing: "I assure you she's delusional. She can thank Donald Trump any time just to set the record straight."
Independent journalist Angela Epstein was being interviewed by Dawn Neesom on GB News when she let rip on the Prime Minister and his grossly sickening habitual virtue-signalling. Starmer, Ms Epstein proclaimed "makes my skin crawl". Mine too. Ms Epstein rightly highlighted some glaring and sickening aspects of the Two-Tier approach to international diplomacy. Firstly, to place the priority emphasis on a cessation of hostilities and unfettered aid into Gaza as the leading order of business whilst adding hostage release and Hamas disarmament as almost a secondary afterthought betrays basic humanity.
Secondly, Two-Tier condemned Israel generally for its war in Gaza against Hamas and sought to isolate and render Bibi Netanyahu impotent in his ability to excise the terrorist cancer that these monsters represent.
British arms sales to Israel became restricted and as if that wasn't enough Two-Tier rewarded Hamas with official recognition of Palestine as a state.
Some of the hostages just released had been repatriated from the West Bank and NOT Gaza, which makes the Palestinian Authority complicit in this abomination, and this was rewarded? Outrageous!
Two-Tier's political agenda was solely intended to placate his pro-Palestinian backbenchers in parliament, having nothing whatsoever to do with advancing any kind of a solution or a lasting peace in the Middle East.
Does anyone in their right mind seriously believe that Israelis will embrace a two-state solution and agree to peacefully co-exist side by side with a Palestinian state all sins forgiven without a word? If you really believe that then you clearly don't understand Israelis very well!
A good thing though is the present sole focus on hostage return, those that remain alive that is along with the remains of the dead, but Two-Tier has no right to claim any kudos for this.
His actions and deeds are demonstrably indicative of the complete opposite. Donald Trump is claiming more of the credit with some considerable justification.
Let us also not lose sight of the fact that hostage return, dead or alive, is but the first in many steps along what will undoubtedly be a very bumpy road ahead.
The next phase of the plan will be for disarming Hamas, which (by the way) they have already vowed they will never do, so we must ask how's that going to work in practice?
Seemingly unable to resist the lure of an event on the world stage, the UK's hapless PM jetted off to Egypt, doubtless at great expense to the British taxpayer. Poor Two-Tier, one almost felt sorry for him.
He looked uncomfortably out of place, appearing like an unhappy constipated womblet who couldn't find his mummy. But all that came after Trump had taken part in a schmoozfest of gargantuan proportions in the Knesset in Jerusalem earlier in the day.
Theatrics there were aplenty, but the words and the accompanying optics were what really mattered, and Trump and Bibi handsomely delivered on that score.
Noteworthy at this gathering was the gracious manner in which Trump asked the leader of the Israeli opposition if he would like to speak before him.
The Knesset has witnessed many heated battles, wars of political attrition even, over the years but such was the overwhelming joy at ALL living hostages having been returned that the mood was almost unanimously celebratory.
There were two ultra left-wing morons who got unceremoniously dumped out of the chamber for heckling. But the mood in Israel appeared a lot more genuinely euphoric.
Hamas had been defeated, the IDF-led military operation fully justified in its primary objectives, the hostages were coming home, whether dead or alive and indeed fewer than 50% of the captives were still breathing.
Without naming names, Bibi in his speech to the Knesset pointedly mentioned those who had turned their backs and walked away, tacitly rewarding terrorist animals for their atrocities in recognising a Palestinian state whilst trying to castrate Israel's military capability.
Two-Tier, his entire government, AND parliamentary caucus who in any way claim the British government had anything to do with this peace plan, behind the scenes or otherwise, are despicable opportunistic hypocrites.
The optics of yesterday's events tell the true story. Sadly, the sharp increase in anti-Semitism and opposition to Israel's very existence has increased as a direct result of British government policy.
Two-Tier's presence in Egypt was a contemptuous slap in the face to the state of Israel and any decent human being, but such is our world of shameless politicians.
There is a long hard road ahead and Israeli involvement in the process as an equal partner is essential to its success. We need to see the remains of all deceased hostages returned and Hamas disarmed and booted out of Gaza, which must be absolutely non-negotiable.
The Donald recognises the reality as does Bibi. Hopefully the likes of Macron and Two-Tier wake up and grow a pair too in small atonement for their egregious transgressions!
