Man Utd may not address problem position after Ruben Amorim 'makes transfer U-turn'

As another troublesome season comes to a close, it's grown clear that Manchester United need to recruit midfielders who can power the engine room in Ruben Amorim's demanding system. However, the United boss could focus on other areas of his squad in the summer transfer window after reportedly performing a U-turn on .

The 33-year-old has undergone a miraculous renaissance in recent months, transitioning from an exile under Amorim to one of his most important players. He has been linked with an Old Trafford exit amid interest from the MLS and Saudi Pro League, but a January switch didn't come to fruition.

There is now said to be a strong chance that Casemiro stays put beyond the summer, too, after earning his head coach's trust.

According to , Casemiro could spend the remainder of his career playing a role in Amorim's mammoth rebuild in Manchester.

It's claimed that the Portuguese tactician has been working closely with his No. 18 and is now convinced he can contribute to his project.

Amorim is said to believe the five-time Champions League winner's experience could prove key as he leads a new era in M16.

The report adds that continuing at United is a serious option for Casemiro, despite his salary returning to around £350,000 a week if the club qualifies for the Champions League.

United will earn entry into Europe's premier competition if they beat Tottenham Hotspur to lift the Europa League in Bilbao on May 21.

But regardless of the Red Devils' fate next season, Casemiro has already made it clear that he intends to honour his contract in England.

In February, having been benched in 10 of United's previous 12 Premier League games, the Brazilian surprisingly laid down his desire to fight for his place.

"I have to keep doing what I'm doing, with a lot of respect, and good behaviour. Of course, I'd like to play more," Casemiro told AS.

"I don't know any player who doesn't want to play. And I want to help the club at this time.

"I face things with respect for my teammates and the staff, and above all, respect for United.

"I have a year and a half left on my contract, and I'd like to see it out here in Manchester. I'm comfortable here, and my family is too. They've adapted, we speak English.

"I'm very grateful to the fans and the club. I'm happy at the club. Happy on the bench? Of course not, that's something else."
