A war film, that viewers say is better than the 1998 classic Saving Private Ryan, is available to rent or purchase on Amazon Prime.
Stalingrad, directed by Joseph Vilsmair and released in 1993, is based on The Battle of Stalingrad. It follows a platoon of German Army soldiers that have been transferred to the Eastern Front of World War 2. Those that have watched the film have said it is a "realistic portrayal" of the event, and dubbed it a "perfect masterpiece".
Viewers also praised the film for its accuracy, honesty and the fact that it did not "glorify the war". Some even consider it one of the greatest war films ever produced.
Multiple fans compared Stalingrad to Steven Spielberg's Saving Private Ryan, but one fan was particularly impressed and rated the film a 10 out of 10.
They wrote: "'The Finest Ambition of the Soldier is to prevent war from ever happening, but it has always been out of their hands. It is in the hands of men whom they do not even know'.
"Saving Private Ryan, Das Boots, Thin Red Line, When We Were Soldiers. Then there is Stalingrad! It is a perfect masterpiece. The acting and filming in this movie are top-notch!
"I also think the music in this movie is great and fits the movie perfectly. Stalingrad holds no punches back in depicting the siege of Stalingrad by the German Army and ultimately their defeat in the cold bitter Russian winter!"

"As far as a 'war' movie goes, I would give honours to Stalingrad over Saving Private Ryan and even Liberal Hollywood's take on the siege of Stalingrad (from the Soviet point of view): Enemy At The Gates."
Another fan said that Stralingrad is a "powerful" testament "to the suffering of the ordinary soldier on the Eastern Front" during the war, and then went on to also compare Stalingrad to Saving Private Ryan.
They added: "This was made before Private Ryan but is possibly even harder-hitting in places."
Stalingrad costs £4.99 to rent on Amazon Prime or £7.99 to buy.
