Stephen Bunting has shared the wholesome way he spent his earnings from the World Darts Championship. The 41-year-old fan favourite enjoyed a run to the semi-finals at Alexandra Palace before comfortably losing to eventual winner Luke Littler.
Many darts fans got behind and hoped he would win the title for the first time, having previously been the BDO world champion in 2014. 'The Bullet' matched his best-ever run to reach the last four, coming up short to Littler, and could console himself with £100,000 for his efforts. Having earned a six-figure payday, Bunting predictably swerved buying a flash car or treating himself to another expensive gift. Instead, he showed his true colours by splashing out on a caravan for his family before quickly returning to his busy darts schedule.
"Part of my money went on the garden and then we've also just bought a caravan in a Haven site in North Wales," Bunting told Spin Bet. "It's a lovely get away from the house and from playing darts to spend some time with my family.
"Haven sites are always great for the kids so there is plenty to do there, and it isn't too far away with it being an hour-and-a-half from down the road. I can be in my own luxury caravan out the way and loving life.
"After the Worlds, I didn't get much time off because I came back on the day of the final, got home and had not seen the baby for a week and I had her in my arms. My manager then rang me and said I was going to Germany for a pro-am gala, so I wasn't at home too much to spend any money."

Bunting currently sits fourth in the PDC Order of Merit with £573,000 to his name. Since the World Championship, he has won the Bahrain Masters and his first European Tour title at the International Open in Germany, each carrying a £30,000 prize for the victor.
The world number four also enjoyed his sole night triumph on German soil in April, in what was otherwise a difficult campaign. As a result of his World Championship run, Bunting had been invited to be one of the league's eight players for the first time in a decade.
However, the Bullet endured eight consecutive defeats before winning night 9 in Berlin. The final event of the regular season took place in Sheffield on Thursday, with Bunting losing to Littler and exiting in the quarter-finals again.
Bunting ended the season with one win and runner-up spot, two semi-final berths, and 12 first-round exits. He finished bottom of the final standings on 12 points, but was one match win away from climbing above Rob Cross on 14 points. An eighth-place finish, plus a £10,000 bonus for his night win, means Bunting earned £60,000 for his Premier League campaign.
Littler topped the Premier League standings with 45 points, following his six night wins. Luke Humphries was runner-up, 11 points behind the leader, with three night victories. Nathan Aspinall and Gerwyn claimed the other two spots in the top four.
This means that the line-up is set for the play-offs on Thursday, May 29, at The O2 in London. Reigning champion Littler will face Price, and Humphries will take on Aspinall ahead of a showdown to decide the Premier League winner.
