Coimbatore: A wild elephant trampled a 65-year-old man to death at Dhayanur in Coimbatore district on Saturday evening.
The deceased has been identified as M Palanisamy of Dhayanur. He was grazing his goats near the reserve forest boundary at the Tholampalayam east beat of the Periyanaickenpalayam forest range when a wild elephant attacked him around 5 pm, resulting in his death on the spot.
Locals alerted forest frontline personnel, who rushed to the spot and sent the body to the Mettupalayam Govt Hospital for postmortem.
