Clouds will keep Gurgaon's temperature in check, but not for long

Gurgaon: With clouds hovering in the sky, the city experienced a welcome respite from heat as the maximum temperature dropped to 37.3 degrees Celsius on Saturday. The India Meteorological department forecasts a further temperature decrease of 2-3°C in the coming two to three days. While immediate heatwave conditions are unlikely, the relief may be brief.

While the minimum temperature was recorded at 26.5 degrees Celsius on Saturday, the relative humidity was recorded at a high of 42%. IMD attributed this change in weather to a Western Disturbance.

A trough of low pressure now extends from Afghanistan into north India at higher altitudes along with an upper air cyclonic circulation that was over south Punjab shifted to south Haryana. Another trough runs from south Haryana to north Bangladesh via central Uttar Pradesh.

The wind pattern has shifted from hot, dry westerlies to relatively cooler and moisture-laden easterlies.

Isolated rain is expected in parts of Haryana on Sunday. However, once the systems pass, dry westerlies will prevail, leading to a rise in temperature. For Sunday, it will be mostly sunny, with the minimum and maximum temperatures expected to hover around 26 and 39 degrees Celsius.

Meanwhile, the city's air quality index (AQI) was recorded at 118 compared to 175 on the previous day.
