Gurgaon: A 17-year-old boy died in a road accident in the Farrukhnagar area. Sonu, son of a truck driver Avadh Bihari Pandey (38), was fatally injured when a bus struck him near Fatehpur Mod.
Around 9.15am, the father-son duo were waiting for transport when the incident occured and Sonu came under the rear tyre of the bus coming from the direction of Jhajjar. The driver stopped the bus briefly, but escaped shortly.
Pandey, however, noted the number on the licence plate as HR 63E 0333.
Sonu was rushed to a private hospital, where he was referred to PGIMS Rohtak due to critical injuries, where he was declared dead.
"It was a private bus. I took my injured son to the govt hospital in Farrukhnagar for treatment, where the doctor referred him to PGIMS Rohtak due to severe injuries. Unfortunately, my son passed away on the way to the hospital," said Pandey. Upon reaching PGIMS Rohtak, the doctor declared Sonu dead.
Police said they received a call around 11.01am regarding an accident near Fatehpur Mod.
A case was registered under Sections 281 (rash or negligent driving or riding on a public way), 106 (death caused by negligence, not intentional acts of culpable homicide) of BNS at Farrukhnagar police station.
"We are trying to trace the bus driver and the offending vehicle," said police spokesperson Sandeep Kumar.
