Dibrugarh: Dibrugarh is gearing up for a critical civil defence mock drill on Wednesday. The drill will commence at 4 pm on Jayanta Dutta Road in the heart of the city. Multiple emergency response agencies will participate, including civil defence personnel, fire & emergency services, health services and ambulance units.
"We've selected a central location to ensure maximum visibility and public awareness. It's crucial that citizens understand these protocols and know how to respond during an actual emergency," the DC said.
The nationwide exercise will test various critical response elements, including the operationalisation of air-raid warning sirens, restoration of bunkers and trenches, and civilian training on protective measures during hostile attacks. Additional components include implementing crash-blackout protocols, camouflaging vital installations, updating evacuation plans, and testing communication lines with the Indian Air Force through hotline and radio systems.
The Dibrugarh district authorities have requested public cooperation during the mock drill, advising citizens to remain calm and follow instructions from emergency personnel. Officials said that temporary traffic diversions may be implemented around Jayanta Dutta Road during the exercise.
