2 held for illegally selling IPL tickets

Jaipur: Two men were arrested for illegally selling IPL match tickets at inflated prices ahead of the Rajasthan Royals vs Gujarat Titans clash scheduled Monday at the SMS Stadium.

DCP (east) Tejaswini Gautam said all police stations were directed to act against illegal ticket selling during the ongoing IPL season. Acting on a tip-off from a special team, the Lal Kothi police station arrested Sandeep Natani (45), a resident of Chaura Rasta, and Chandra Prakash (26), a resident of Kanwar Nagar.

Upon searching the accused, police recovered a total of 56 tickets and a car used in the illegal operation. Natani was found carrying 40 tickets priced at Rs 2,400 each (serial numbers 164433 to 164472), while Prakash was found with 16 tickets priced at Rs 3,200 each (serial numbers 164543 to 164558).

During interrogation, the duo confessed they were selling Rs 2,400 tickets for Rs 4,000 and Rs 3,200 tickets for Rs 5,000 on the black market. An FIR was registered against them under charges of cheating and profiteering.

Police have warned that stringent action will be taken against anyone caught selling IPL tickets illegally and have intensified surveillance.
