How to unlock Bird Helmet in Monster Hunter Wilds

Send Push
In Monster Hunter Wilds, hunters are usually busy hunting the best gear for their power-up. While a lot of gear is useful for boosting stats and abilities, some are valued for sheer style. The Bird Helmet is one of those: a quirky yet stylish headpiece that won't win any prizes for usefulness but provides a fun and unique look for anyone that enjoys character customization. Here is how you can unlock this bird-themed headpiece in Monster Hunter Wilds.

Welcoming a novelty item

The Bird Helmet or Amstrigian Alpha helmet is a headpiece made from Amstrigian materials, a bird-like creature of the Windward Plains in Monster Hunter Wilds. The helmet may not be every hunter's best choice when it comes to armor in high-level gameplay, though one can spot many a hunter happily wearing it for their look. Some hunters prefer using layered armor for the Bird Helmet, allowing them to change the look of any other high-stat piece of armor with this one. But you'll first have to unlock the Bird Helmet to make it really stylish.

Ways to unlockThe Bird Helmet is pretty easy to acquire, providing players with a simple task in which to partake before earning their reward. To obtain the Bird Helmet, players will join an event quest called "When Do Quematrice Sing?" In this quest, participants are required to hunt the regular High Rank version of the monster called the Quematrice, among others, in Monster Hunter Wilds. Good news for players: the Quematrice itself is one of the rather easy monsters to take down, making this quest an extremely straightforward yet accessible way to take home a precious Amstrigian ticket needed for crafting the Bird Helmet.

It is worth noting that there is also a Tempered variety of the Quematrice, but this will not yield any of the materials required for the helmet. Make sure you hunt the regular High Rank.

A simple hunt with big rewardsActually, the Quematrice isn't that difficult of an opponent. It has attacks that are very easy to dodge and has no skillful powers capable of ravaging the hunters. Its main weakness is Water but affordably any kind of weapon type, provided that the individual is consistent, can actually defeat it. However, you might have to look out for a Rathian, which may want to bind itself into the fray.

When you have finished the quest and taken down the Quematrice, you will get different materials, including:

  • Amstrigian Ticket
  • Quematrice Crest+
  • Monster Keenbone
  • Wyvern Gem
  • Quematrice Tail and other Quematrice-related materials
The Amstrigian Ticket is perhaps the most important as it is needed to craft the Bird Helmet. The other materials include the Quematrice Crest+ and Monster Keenbone, two essential components in the helmet's construction. Now, if you have collected the required items, off to Gemma's forge you go for your new helmet crafting.

Time limited event, but worth the wait

Another feature of Monster Hunter Wilds is the inclusion of limited-time event quests. For instance, on the quest: "When Do Quematrice Sing", the event is bound to get you leaving just a little of the juicy hunts. These events usually are not available long, but they'll be sure to pop up from time to time, possibly during holiday occurrences or major updates. You'll definitely want to jump on them when you can, especially if you're looking to unlock the Bird Helmet for its fun and quirky look.

The Bird Helmet does not provide the best stats, but it makes up for the shortcoming with its looks. It is easy enough to obtain by just hunting the regular version of the Quematrice and gathering the necessary items to go to Gemma's forge. So it's an easy, satisfying side quest for hunters with an interest in customizing their characters to go through the "When Do Quematrice Sing" event quest and unlock the Bird Helmet.
