Karun Nair brought up a double century on Day 2 of the unofficial Test between India A and England Lions at Canterbury on Saturday. Nair brought up the mark with a boundary in the 101st over of India A's innings.
This is the fourth occasion on which Nair scored 200 runs or more in a single innings. His highest First-Class score is 328, achieved while playing for Karnataka against Tamil Nadu during the 2015/16 season. Nair is also the second Indian batter, following Virender Sehwag, to record a triple century in Test cricket. Prior to this, his top score for India A was an unbeaten 114 against South Africa A in 2015.
Nair, included in the India squad for the five-Test series against England that starts on June 20, has made a solid start to the two-month tour. Having last played for India eight years ago, Nair's double century cannot go unignored for the selectors and coach Gautam Gambhir .
