Oscar Piastri's manager Mark Webber reveals McLaren driver's strengths, comments on his double win

Oscar Piastri is the only F1 driver to have won two races this season so far. After a challenging start in Melbourne, he went on to win the Chinese Grand Prix and the more recent Bahrain Grand Prix , both of which were again challenging circuits to say the least. Webber has credited the “intelligence of the boy and understanding what he needs to improve” as the reason behind his dominance on the track.

Mark Webber says Oscar Piastri’s win in China as well as Bahrain is a positiveOscar Piastri has won two out of four races in his McLaren , which is being called the fastest car this year. His teammate Lando Norris, however, has faced a few hiccups besides registering a win at the first race of the season at the Australian Grand Prix.

Webber is impressed with Piastri and said in his praise, “Four wins now, 13 podiums, so early in his career is of course a really huge feather in his cap. As we know, you can have the machinery but it’s often not easy to convert those opportunities. He’s converted the two poles straight away, so I think what we’re seeing quite early in his career is a job well done so far.”

He further added that though Piastri has been lucky enough to win a few races and Bahrain seems to be the most comfortable win, not all races are the same and the future ones may be stressful. He also said that it's a “positive” that he won both in China as well as in Bahrain.

Webber confirmed that the 24-year-old McLaren driver had improved over one lap, and said that it was indeed important for an F1 driver to benefit from a pole position. “When you’re up against Max, Charles [Leclerc], Lando, Lewis [Hamilton], like these guys in the first few years, there’s some serious artillery there over one lap. We know how sensitive it is to execute these cars and tyres on Saturday, so because of the intelligence of the boy and understanding what he needs to improve, yeah. But as I say to him, you have the most experience the day you retire, so keep learning,” he said.
