Yoshinobu Yamamoto makes sensational return against Chicago Cubs Yoshinobu Yamamoto was back in action for the Chicago Cubs on Sunday night in a game he'll remember. The 25-year-old pitcher threw four innings with one run on four hits, walked none and struck out eight batters. His fastball hit a pretty decent 96. 3 mph on average and his splitter played well to try to keep the batters guessing at all times. He threw 59 pitches in the game.

It was his first appearance on the mound since pulling his rotator cuff in June 2024. He had held out from playing for almost a year with the injury. So this was an important day for both Yamamoto and the Dodgers .

Dodgers skipper Dave Roberts liked the look. He told reporters, "I think the stuff will be there. I don't know how the command is going to be. So I think the way we're looking at it is we're going to get four starts from him prior to the postseason, and if we can bank four starts and build up volume, we'll be ready to go past that."
Yoshinobu Yamamoto brings hope back to the DodgersThe comeback of Yamamoto brings a lot of positive vibes back to the team.
