JAMMU: Indian Army, in close coordination with J&K police, successfully neutralised 42 unexploded Pakistani shells in the areas of Jhullas, Salotri, Dharati, and Salani in Poonch district on Sunday.
These shells were part of a Pakistani barrage targeting civilian areas in Poonch following India’s strikes on terrorist camps in Pakistan and PoK during Operation Sindoor .
Jammu-based defence spokesperson Lt Col Suneel Bartwal said, “These shells, remnants of recent cross-border shelling , posed a serious threat to the lives and safety of local residents. The operation was carried out with utmost precision, adhering to all standard safety protocols to eliminate any risk to civilian life or property.”
On Saturday, Army’s bomb disposal squads also destroyed an unexploded mortar shell in a controlled explosion near Regal border outpost in Samba district, in addition to neutralising several mortar shells in Akhnoor sector of Jammu.
