NEW DELHI: US Vice President JD Vance on Tuesday shared experience of his visit to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's official residence in national capital. He visited there with second lady Usha Vance, and their three kids.
"Our kids just like him. And I think that, because kids are such good, strong of characters, I just like Prime Minister Modi, too. And I think it's a great foundation for the future of a relationship," he said, further noting how "good" the food was.
He noted how the hospitality made his kids so comfortable that his eldest kid expressed the desire to live in India. "My firstborn Ewan is 7, and after PM Modi’s hospitality, he came to me and said - I think I can live in India," he said.
Vance also held bilateral talks with PM Modi on Monday where the two leaders discussed trade, defence, technology among other regional and global issues.
"Pleased to welcome US @VP @JDVance and his family in New Delhi. We reviewed the fast-paced progress following my visit to the US and meeting with President Trump. We are committed to mutually beneficial cooperation, including in trade, technology, defence, energy and people-to-people exchanges. India-US Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership will be a defining partnership of the 21st Century for a better future of our people and the world," PM Modi said in a post on X.
Responding to this, Vance noted how "kind" PM Modi was to his children. "It was an honor to see Prime Minister Modi this evening. He’s a great leader and he was incredibly kind to my family. I look forward to working under President Trump’s leadership to strengthen our friendship and cooperation with the people of India!" he said.
Vance is on a four-day visit to India, which is also his first official visit to the country since assuming office. This comes as US President Donald Trump has hit a 90-day pause on tariff imposition with India hoping to strike a beneficiary deal with the States.
