Emphasising how the use of advanced technology and modern means of communication have made crimes borderless, Amit Shah on Monday said the use of forensic science is crucial for speedy investigation and improving the conviction rate from the current 54% to, say, 94% in a few years. Addressing AllIndia Forensic Science Summit 2025, Shah said PM Modi was farsighted to visualise the growing importance of forensic sciences four years before the enactment of three new criminal laws, as he had set up NFSU in 2020. Stating that seven NFSU campuses have since been established in different states, with nine more coming up in next six months and 10 at the proposal stage, Shah said these will together churn out 36,000 trained forensic experts every year.
