A 40-year-old man has been arrested after allegedly threatening to carry out a bombing linked to the Coachella Music and Arts Festival in California.
Santa Monica based Davis Darvish reportedly made the threat on Saturday morning while speaking to security staff at the Agua Caliente Casino, located roughly 17 miles from the Empire Polo club, the site of the world-famous festival. The annual festival held every April draws in 125,000 attendees every day.
Cathedral city police said they were alerted to the incident shortly before 11am. Using FLOCK ALPR automated number plate recognition (ANPR) technology, officers were able to quickly track Darvish’s Tesla through the Coachella Valley, ABC news reported.
By 12.11 p.m., officers from Palm Springs police had located and detained Darvish. Detectives from Cathedral City then took over the investigation.
No explosives, weapons or bomb-making materials were found on Darvish or in his vehicle, police confirmed.
Despite the lack of physical evidence, Darvish remained in custody at the John Benoit detention center in Indio, where he is being held on $1 million bail.
