Florida Rep. Anna Paulina Luna has floated the idea that the former First Lady may be nominated for the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize, not just her husband.
Luna told Fox News that Melania has been “very instrumental” in quiet discussions with Russia and could be “a key reason” why peace in Ukraine eventually takes shape.
Trump has already received multiple nominations for the prize from the governments of Rwanda, Israel, Gabon, Azerbaijan, and Cambodia, along with various individuals. Bookmakers currently place his odds of winning at nearly 29%, on par with Russian activist Yulia Navalnaya.
Adding intrigue, earlier this month, Trump carried a personal letter from Melania to Vladimir Putin during a summit in Alaska. The message, released by her office, urged the Russian leader to “protect the innocence of children” and painted a sweeping vision of “a dignity-filled world for all.”
While some reports suggested the note referenced kidnapped Ukrainian children, the letter stayed vague, focusing instead on humanity’s duty to future generations.
The meeting ended without progress, and Russian strikes on Ukraine continue. But Trump’s allies remain adamant that both he and Melania deserve global recognition.
Steve Witkoff, Trump’s envoy to the Middle East, even told the president at a Cabinet meeting, “You are the single finest candidate since this Nobel award was ever talked about.”
The Nobel Peace Prize can be awarded to up to three people or groups. The 2025 winner will be announced on October 10.
