Bank Branches to Remain Closed for 12 Days in May

As May 2025 begins, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has released the official list of bank holidays applicable across various states for the financial year 2025–26. According to the notification, banks will remain closed for a total of 12 days in May, including weekly offs and state-specific holidays.

On May 1, banks are closed nationwide in observance of Labour Day and Maharashtra Day, marking the first banking holiday of the month.

Banks will be closed on:

  • Sundays: May 4, 11, 18, and 25

  • Second Saturday: May 10

  • Fourth Saturday: May 24

  • May 26 (Monday) Kazi Nazrul Islam Birth Anniversary

  • May 29 (Thursday) Maharana Pratap Jayanti
    Closed in: Shimla

  • Will Online Banking Be Affected?

    No. While physical bank branches will remain closed on the mentioned dates, digital banking services such as UPI, net banking, mobile apps, and ATMs will remain fully operational 24×7. Customers are encouraged to plan their in-person banking tasks in advance to avoid disruptions during the holiday period.
